I don't know all the details of what happened in Jena, but there is no doubt that race plays a major factor in politics in this country and in so many other issues. Just look at the uproar over South Carolina flying a confederate flag at its statehouse.
I'm always amazed at the racist attitudes of people in casual conversations, some unknowing and some intentional. It will be very interesting to see how it plays out with Barack Obama.
