Is Wolf Blitzer the worst or what?

From his ever-present, phonus-balonus pen and note-paper props to his monotous droning to his...well, to almost everything about him, CNN's Wolf Blitzer is the worst news host on national television.

(Well, OK, some of the creeps on Fox are worse. But still...)

As a moderator in presidential campaign debates, Blitzer's beyond bad. On that score, Madison blogger Griper Blade adroitly nails the Wolf man.

Please, God, let me keep a straight face

I'm trying hard not to laugh about this, because, after all, we're talking about war and death.

But it's hard not to chuckle at the rhetoric offered by George W. Bush in explaining his veto of the war-spending bill. He said success in Iraq does not necessarily require the complete elimination of violence. "Success," he said, "is a level of violence where the people feel comfortable about living their daily lives."

When Democrat John Kerry said essentially the same thing during the 2004 election campaign, Bush and his pals roundly chided the Massachusetts senator, and so did the supplicant media.

With a nod to Think Progress, the Madison blogger Griper Blade details the hypocrisy.

This should be fun

U.S. Attorney Gen. Alberto Gonzales testifies today before the Senate Judiciary Committee in the matter of the Bush administration's questionable dismissals of eight federal prosecutors, an issue that most Americans consider worthy of investigation, despite arguments to the contrary from die-hard supporters of the White House gang.

Madison blogger Griper Blade offers some background.

UPDATE: Dick Durbin gives Gonzales some pushback when the attorney general says criticism of him is criticism of dedicated career staffers in the Justice Department. See the video here.
